For the Parents

Some Vital Facts

  • Education of your children should have the highest priority next to their health, well-being and security.
  • The most important thing is that parents recognise this and send children to school.
  • In school, parents should make sure that fees and school needs are available for the children to learn effectively.
  • Even if children complete school and do not find a job immediately, education has opened their eyes and given them a potential for the future.
  • Parents should know that a missed chance of education in childhood cannot be corrected later in life.

During the course of basic education, pupils may develop a skill or group of skills that finally determine, what profession they will pursue in life. If no one observes, motivates and encourages the pupil, this potential may never be exploited for the good of the pupil and the society. It is therefore important that teachers, parents, relatives and friends are vigilant with children during their development.

For the environment (parents, care takers and teachers) to identify and promote traits in a child that finally lead to the optimal profession, they themselves must be informed about possible professions and their values in society. Here I refer not only to the immediate society where the pupils live, but the global village (world). Promoting the development of this skill entails being open, giving the child the possibility to experiment and know more about their skill. If the children could attain results at their young age, these should be emphasised and encouraged. With time however, the interests may shift. Then the child should be guided and accompanied with care, patience and persistence.

In many professions, not only one skill is demanded. For an experimenting pupil, even if the interests shift completely to something else, it is worth encouraging them to keep going. It may be a combination of skills, trying and comparing various skills and observing much in the environment that may lead the pupil on the right path towards the right profession for themselves.
